The Museum of the Battle of the Bulge in Clervaux
The Story
Inaugurated in 1974 and located in the medieval castle of Clervaux, the Museum of the Battle of the Bulge tells the story of what happened in and around the city, from the first shots fired on December 16th, 1944 to the harsh winter combats in the ice and snow.
With many dioramas and a vast collection of uniforms, weapons, military gear and rare personnel items, this unique place is being taken care of by the experienced curator team of CEBA. On the town square you will also find one of only two US tanks that took part in the fights of this infamous battle and that remained in Luxembourg. This rare version, a Sherman M4A3 76W tank, belonged to the 9th US Armored Division and participated directly in the fierce fighting around the castle at the beginning of the German offensive. It was eventually knocked out on December 17th just outside the castle walls. CEBA is proud to present this unique piece of history now once again to the public after its restoration.
